Absecon police said 39-year-old Michael Davis of Absecon was charged with criminal attempted burglary, obstruction, and several drug-related charges. He was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Officers were called to the Oyster Bay Condominium Complex near West California Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8. Police received a report of a man wearing a ski mask trying to break into a vehicle.
As officers were heading to the scene, they received more reports of the same man trying to break into a home in the complex. When police got there, officers found the suspect and arrested him after he tried to run away from them.
Police said Davis has a prior criminal record. He was arrested after a crime spree in two neighborhoods in the city on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Investigators said that while he was nude, Davis got inside a vehicle at the Absecon Townhomes and told the teen driver to take him to the Clayton Mill Run Apartment Complex. When they got there, Davis assaulted the teen and ran away with the teen's cell phone.
Once in the apartment complex, Davis was accused of entering a home with a woman and her two children inside it. The three got out of the apartment unharmed and Davis also left.
Police then said Davis climbed up to a second-story balcony and broke into a second apartment with another woman and her baby inside it. Davis assaulted the woman but she fought him off and he ran away from the apartment.
Davis also tried to run away from police in this incident but officers caught him and arrested him. He was given 16 charges, including three counts each of burglary, aggravated criminal sexual conduct, and lewdness.
Anyone with information about Davis should call the Absecon Police Department at 609-641-0667. You can also call the Crime Stoppers at 1-200-658-TIPS (8447).
